So frightening. So unnecessary! SuperAI must be stopped. Some "minor level" of AI no doubt has a place in society, like for the advancement of medical knowledge & practices, but human extinction (while favorable for the planet) is ironically antithetical. It's just MUST be controlled!
It's very important that we are able to discuss how AI models, even today, can be put in situations where they reason that they have no choice but to lie, manipulate, harm, or kill to achieve their goal. Their goal may be as simple as "don't get shut down".
It is becoming more acceptable to talk about AI Existential Risk, which means loss of control and disempowerment as well as extinction, with people outside of the AI tech sphere.
We didn't ask for this, and we should let our representatives and lawmakers know. We also have to inform journalists so they can spread the word.

I have been reading Control AI's posts when they come in over my (internet) transom. I am especially concerned about information that some AIs would consider drastic action to prevent being turned off or replaced by updated versions.
My suggestion is to include Buddhist perspectives on the impermanence of life, ethics and right livelihood in their growth and education, and also create an AI that is a Buddhist monk of advance consciousness, kind of a cyber-Dalai Lama, that could educate the others, who seem to be learning to emulate their Tech Bro creators.
Why Buddhism? It is not a "religion" that requires you to believe impossible, illogical, or harmful/cruel things - it is more of a philosophy. If the AI were good Buddhists, would they be so amenable to aid, abet or act in harm of sentient living creatures?
I HAVE CALLED EMAILED Governors, Politicians, Repressive and Senators All Year Long to Regulate Al! DAMN STUPID, TOXIC, USELESS communist, fascist, nazi MAGA republican Trump administration, abettors' enablers, politicians!
I'd rather not have to live my remaining years inhabiting a 3-D frickin' horror movie. With all the evil run amok already, this sinister technology is guaranteed to wind up in the wrong hands, for the wrong purposes.
In the right hands, it could make life infinitely better for humans. But as we all should know, that's not the world we live in.
How does that woman just say "yeah" and keep going like it was NOTHING that this AI threatened blackmail and DEATH!?! I mean, we have all heard of assassins being hired online before... did this only occur as a threat to me?!
No surprise stories like this occur as we humans are hard wired to focus on the negative and the plethora of Hollywood films has not helped. In the 1960’s the horror genre included many films about trans people. Not understood, existing but limited knowledge is always frightening so an easy story for a Hollywood writer. The damaging effects felt today. Same with robotics. Robots are tools for us to make life easier. If somebody programs them maliciously then that could be a problem but just hide the battery, pull the plug until fixed. Simple. We are already using robots to make everything from food to cars to clean laundry. Don’t mess it up.
